Overview Features Workplace Communication Upgrade Pricing Maintenance Capture more with Snagit 2024 Get precious time back in your day with new features that make moving work forward faster than ever. On the desktop machine I have decided to not waste my time and remove all TechSmith products since they cause too many problems and no longer offer enough value to warrant all this extra effort. On the laptop, where I use SnagIt the most, I had to reboot and start the installer then choose REPAIR option three times before SnagIt would start. One machine is laptop with 3.1 Ghz i5 Intel and 12GB ram, and the second machine is desktop with 4.3 Ghz i7 and 32GB ram. This is happening on two different Windows machines both running Version 10 20H2 (build 19042.746). YES, the install program tries to launch SnagIt after completing, but SnagIt usually crashes at which point I perform the REPAIR operation I mentioned earlier. After this SnagIt will start and run as expected, but not until then. Before launching the new version I restart the install program and select REPAIR which hopefully cleans the registry of previous botched updates. Install the 32-bit version of Snagit to the 64-bit machine. Install the 64-bit version of Snagit to the 32-bit machine. Install the 32-bit version of Snagit to the 32-bit machine (Snagit 2021 and earlier only). After that I download the newly released installer and perform a new install. Install the 64-bit version of Snagit to the 64-bit machine. I manually kill all the TechSmith services, backup my DataStore directory, delete all TechSmith folders, click uninstall in the App section of Settings which fails since I deleted all the folders then I choose to remove the entry from application list. Due to backend maintenance on the TechSmith user community, the ability to create new posts or comment on posts has been temporarily disabled. Using file explorer to delete the files and folders located in %ProgramData%/TechSmith/Updater will not resolve this error either. Restarting your computer does not resolve this error. This does not explain how to update to your current version. If you try to use the REPAIR option under the Application section of settings you just get error 1618 telling you that there is installation already in progress and must be completed first. I dont see a way to get the update or how to install it. After the update fails SnagIt will no longer function. Once for a version 13 update and once for an update in version 2018.Įvery subsequent update that has been released since fails. If you have a previous version of Snagit, see tutorials for previous versions or upgrade to the latest version. To check your version, select Help menu (Windows) or Snagit menu (Mac) > About Snagit. Previous versions may look or function differently. In all that time the TechSmith Updater process has only completed successfully twice. Note: This tutorial is for Snagit version 2024. I have been using Snagit since Snagit 13. ![]()
