![]() Once the blueprint is unlocked the water filtration machine will be craftable for 3 titanium, 2 copper turned into copper wire, and an aerogel made from a gel sack and a ruby. The water filtration machine is one such appliance, and its fragments can spawn in the Jellyshroom Cave, Dunes, Bulb Zone, or scattered around any of the major pieces of wreckage from the Aurora. Scanning these fragments will unlock their blueprints, detailing which materials are required to build them with either the fabricator or the habit builder tool. Some of the more advanced pieces of hardware in the game will require the player to explore Subnautica's darkest depths to find their fragments. Once the Marblemelon is mature the fruit can be plucked by interacting with it, or the player may hit it with their knife to harvest 4 Marblemelon seeds to resupply their grow bed. Place Marblemelon seeds in a grow bed or a planter to begin farming them, they will take about 800 seconds to mature. Marblemelons are the best choice for both food and water content, with each fully grown fruit providing +12 food and +14 H2O. Once players reach the Aurora Rendevous Point they will have access to a few farmable options. Reload your game to fix this.As Subnautica progresses the option to build underwater bases will unlock, opening new possibilities for exploration and a need for more hydration. If a Gel Sack grown from a grow bed is knifed, it will split into four separate Gel Sacks that cannot be interacted with.To solve this, save and reload your game, craft it into aerogel or die to reset your inventory to a previous stage. There is sometimes a bug where, upon eating a gel sack that has been in a grow bed, it will become a ghost item and, although it still takes up inventory space, cannot be interacted with.Gel Sack Subnautica Below Zero Locations. Gel Sacks are always found at the base of the giant Mushroom Tree in the Northwestern Mushroom Forest. You can slack the gel sack twice with the knife to get gel sack seeds.Gel Sacks spawn on the underwater slopes of Mountain Island, including shallow waters near the beach.A good source of Gel Sacks used to be the Safe Shallows trench by the Aurora, but Gel Sacks there have since been removed from that location.Occupying the same amount of space, four Gel Sacks provide +20 Food and +16 H20 and 980 Energy. For comparison, a single Marblemelon occupies a 2×2 space and provides +12 Food and +14 H20 and 420 Energy. ![]() In terms of space, Gel Sacks provide the most Food and H20 and Energy in the Bioreactor of any Flora.Bioreactors are definitely useful, but are outpaced in energy production by everything else. The Gel Sack was originally called the Jelly Plant, and later the Spore Sack. Best plant is the Gel Sack with the Marblemelons, Bulbo Trees, Bulb Bushes, and Bloodoil all fighting for second (due to them being 420 energy for 2x2 space versus the Gel Sack at 245 energy for only 1x1 space). However, they only occupy a single spot in the player's inventory, allowing for many to be carried at once. Gel Sacks are unique among edible flora species in that they do not rot while in the player's inventory, making them a viable food and water source for longer trips, but they do not provide much food or water individually.
